How to create a Nectar AI character (8 steps)

Create an account & open the creator
Sign up (it's free to start) and tap the Create / new-companion button to open the character creator.

Choose a category & base look
Pick girlfriend, boyfriend or anime, then set the foundation: body type, face, hair, eyes and overall style. This is your canvas — don't overthink it; you can refine later.

Refine the appearance details
Layer finer traits — outfit, aesthetic and vibe. Small details here make the generated images feel distinctive rather than generic.

Set personality & relationship dynamic
This is the most important step for chat quality. Choose personality traits and the dynamic deliberately — they directly change how your companion speaks and behaves.
Tip: pick 2–3 strong, complementary traits rather than a long contradictory list.

Write a backstory & opening scene
A few sentences of backstory plus an opening message give the model context and a strong first impression. This sets the tone for both Companion and Fantasy mode.

Pick a voice
Choose a voice that matches the personality so voice messages feel consistent with who you built.

Generate a profile image
Generate images that match your design. Keep your settings consistent so future images stay on-model (this is where Nectar's character-to-image link pays off).

Chat for a few minutes, then go back into settings and refine. The best characters are iterated, not built perfectly on the first pass.
